United Welsh Housing
While working for Momentum, I had the privilege of working at director level along side Momentum’s creative director on the redesign project for United Welsh's Caerphilly headquarters. Focused on creating a workspace that promotes collaboration and relaxation. Up against seven firms in Cardiff, Momentum was chosen to work on this project and began extensive consultations with United Welsh's leadership and staff.
Responsibilities encompassed:
Collaborating closely with United Welsh's management and project team to understand their strategic objectives and aspirations.
Designing a versatile space that promotes relaxation and fosters collaboration among teams, while supporting their innovative approach to productivity
Specifying and sourcing all furniture, lighting, and overseeing the interior contracting, which included partitioning, floor coverings, wall finishes, and kitchen design.
Managing the entire project lifecycle from initial concept development through to final installation across multiple sites.
United Welsh invested significant effort in reshaping their workforce culture, encouraging employees to think innovatively about enhancing productivity. This proactive approach meant that the office redesign aimed to support and facilitate this cultural change, rather than being the primary driver of it. As a result, staff were more receptive to the changes implemented.
United Welsh showed remarkable foresight in embracing new ways of working, and the outcome has been incredibly positive. Feedback from across the organization has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with the redesigned environment exceeding expectations. It has not only enhanced operational efficiency but also fostered a culture of creativity and collaboration among their teams.
