Pond Cottage

Pond Cottage is a Grade II listed former park keeper’s cottage set within Gnoll Country Park, restored as part of a UK Government Levelling Up scheme. Working alongside Hiraeth Architects, Andrew Scott Lt and Neath Port Talbot Council, I delivered the interior design, space planning, FF&E specification and styling for the transformation into a premium holiday let. The scheme balances heritage sensitivity with modern comfort, commercial durability and regulatory compliance. The result is a calm, characterful retreat that supports the long term sustainability of the park and its heritage assets.

Testimonial

As part of a major UK Government Levelling Up scheme at Gnoll Country Park, Neath, Rhian was engaged by Neath Port Talbot Council to assist in the restoration of a Grade II listed former park keeper’s cottage. The brief involved developing Pond Cottage into premium, high quality rentable accommodation, with a fit out that reflected the historic nature of the park and its significance to the town of Neath.

The results have exceeded all expectations. From the initial concept and first meeting on site through to the final fit out, Rhian’s dedication, enthusiasm and skill were exceptional. Her vision and design have beautifully blended historic character with modern comfort. The entire process was handled with empathy, professionalism and a collaborative approach, ensuring that every detail reflected both the heritage of the property and the needs of future guests.

Senior council officers, UK and Welsh Government representatives and other stakeholders who have visited the cottage have been extremely impressed and delighted with the outcome. Interest is already high in renting the cottage, and it is anticipated that it will achieve a significant financial return on the investment. I would not hesitate in recommending Rhian to anyone seeking a truly outstanding design and fit out service.
