Park House

After launching Rhian Worgan Interior Design in June 2024, Park House marked my first solo project. It was incredibly rewarding to have the trust of a client I had previously collaborated with through Momentum, and I felt a strong commitment to delivering on their vision for the space. The commercial rental market, still feeling the effects of the pandemic, presented unique challenges, but we aimed to position Park House as a standout option. Acting on the advice of the client’s commercial agents, the brief was to design, furnish, and style the recently divided Ground Floor Suites to make them more attractive to potential tenants.

Suite 2 was divided into three independent offices with a shared meeting room and a breakout space, complete with a kitchen. This layout provided tenants with flexible, collaborative options, blending privacy with shared amenities. In contrast, Suite 3 was designed as a large, open-plan office, complemented by a meeting room and an open kitchen, to foster a more open and connected working environment.

The goal was to create functional, visually appealing spaces that would meet the needs of any tenant organisation. Each office was furnished with high-quality, ergonomic essentials. Desks with cable management, fully adjustable task chairs, directional lamps, notice boards, and coat hooks ensured the spaces were ready to support a productive working environment right from the start.

A modern lounge area added a relaxed feel to the suites, featuring sofas, lounge chairs, coffee tables, and a cosy rug, providing a welcoming space where tenants could unwind or hold informal meetings. For the breakout space, I introduced a high table with stools, creating a versatile area where tenants could eat, enjoy a coffee, or collaborate with colleagues and visitors.

Every detail in these suites was selected with tenant comfort in mind. A smart TV was installed in the meeting room, offering tech-enabled functionality, while the kitchen was equipped with a coffee machine, providing tenants with extra convenience. Decorative lighting, real plants, and carefully selected artwork throughout the suites added warmth and personality, creating a balanced, inviting atmosphere that would appeal to a range of tenants.

During the Ground Floor project, a large suite on the Second Floor became vacant, and the client asked me to prepare this space for rental as well. Previously occupied by an architectural firm, the suite included some inherited furniture. To make efficient use of the existing pieces and respect the budget, I reconfigured the furniture layout, creating two banks of 8 bench desks that maximised space and flow in the office. A double desk was repurposed into a table for the tea point, and a comfortable lounge area was added to create a welcoming social space. To give the suite an updated look, I applied textured tiles to the kitchenette splashback and styled the shelves with accessories that complemented the room’s aesthetic.

This project emphasised a sustainable approach, reusing existing furniture wherever possible and directing our efforts and budget toward features that would make the greatest visual and functional impact.

The redesign of the Ground Floor and Second Floor Suites at Park House transformed them into inviting, tenant-focused workspaces that appeal to contemporary work preferences. With a focus on comfort, functionality, and budget-conscious design, Park House now stands out as an attractive choice for tenants in a competitive rental market.
